Would a video put together with different tennis clips violate law?
When my favorite tennis player retired I made a video with different clips of points and put it to music. I put an abbreviated copy on the website youtube in 2 parts. I had it up for months, and then today I got an email saying the first part had been removed and that “This is to notify you that we have removed or disabled access to the following material as a result of a third-party notification by Tennis Australia claiming that this material is infringing:”
The video had 1 point that lasted about 7 seconds of him playing in the Australian Open tennis tournament. I don’t understand why they would take something like that down.
What exactly is the law in this situation? I’m not making any money off the video, and I’m not hurting their sales of tennis matches or anything because they don’t sell old matches and its not affecting their ticket or TV sales for the Australian Open because I’m only showing 1 point.
Am I entitled to use the video in the way I did under fair use?
